Investment Casting

TPM investment casting reduced the cost per unit of this support casting by 96 percent.
This lug casting, which originally required both machining and welding, was investment cast by TPM at a savings of 82 percent per unit.

An Ancient Art for Modern Cost Efficiency
The "lost wax" process used in investing casting dates back more than 6,000 years to the creation of some of man's first bronze implements. Jewelers have since used it for precision reproduction of intricate designs made of precious metals. Now manufacturers of industrial equipment are discovering the cost efficiency of this ancient art in modern design production.
Investment casting achieves close dimensional tolerances of ±.005"/" in a variety of alloys with little or no need for expensive subsequent machining, and it produces a surface finish of 125 RMS or better without polishing. With some parts, because of their configurations, casting must be used because of the inherent limitations of machining. With many others, casting can result in a significant cost reduction over machining. If your production requires parts precisely duplicated to exacting tolerances, and you now rely on machining or casting-plus-machining, there is a good chance that the ancient art of investment casting can enhance your cost efficiency.

Quality, Craftsmanship and Reliability
TPM has produced precision investment castings since 1969 at its modern plant in Sugar Land, Texas. The plant, located in suburban Houston, is a medium volume operation with heavy emphasis placed on increasing automated production capabilities. TPM maintains an outstanding quality assurance program which meets the most sophisticated customer technical requirements.
TPM performance begins with an experienced engineer, thoroughly familiar with all phases of the investment casting process. He coordinates your design requirements with the capabilities of the investment casting process. From the initial alloy test to final product testing, he supervises production to insure that the results meet the exact specifications and tolerances you require.
TPM's castings range from one-half ounce to more than twenty pounds, and are available in alloy steel, mild steel, stainless steel, hastalloy, brass, bronze, and other alloys. Complex shapes, thin wall sections and even threads are possible. And because TPM maintains complete procedural records, any part once produced can later be exactly reproduced.

TPM's new, larger plant capacity insures continued reliable delivery and responsiveness to increased customer-demand.
TPM engineers coordinate customer requirements with the investment casting process so that finished products meet every specification.
